Steam Studios joins the Ad2 Public Service Committee: Selfish Bastards No More!
AD2, the "cool kids" arm of the Orlando Advertising Federation, helps young professionals in the
creative industry network, socialize and enhance their skills. But industry types aren't the only
people AD2 helps.
Every year, AD2's Public Service Committee selects a non-profit organization and acts as its
advertising agency, donating time and talent to a worthwhile cause. This year's organization
selection, New Hope for Kids, helps children and families cope with the death of a loved one.
Everyone here at Steam Studios is honored to work alongside AD2 and New Hope for Kids.

Samson and Vanessa get hitched! Newborn puppies no longer "the cutest thing ever"!
Samson Cranford, the non-evil half of Steam Studios, and the love of his life, Vanessa Jattan,
tied the knot amongst family and friends on August 28, 2004. If you haven't already, extend best
wishes to the happy couple. Then tell Sam to get back to work.

RGB vs. CMYK color
Confused by color modes? Intimidated by the counter-geeks at your local print shop? Read this and you won't be...
|
 |
RGB Color:
• RGB (Red-Green-Blue) refers to additive color. Merging
red, green, and blue in the color spectrum (remember that
prism thingie from 3rd grade science class?) results in true
white.
• Your computer and TV emit color in RGB mode. Since they have light-emitting diodes, color is generated, instead of being reflected.
Color, as we perceive it, is nothing more than light waves being reflected back to our eyeballs after striking a surface.
Since computer monitors generate light, they can actually generate more colors than the human eye can perceive.
• RGB mode is ideal for computer monitors, NOT for printing.
|
 |
CMYK Color:
• CMYK (Cyan-Magenta-Yellow-Black) refers to subtractive color. Merging cyan, magenta and yellow results in black.
• Magazines, posters and just about anything printed use CMYK, also known as four-color process printing, to create the
colors you see.
• Since merging cyan, magenta and yellow to create black works only in theory (and, presumably, at the sub-atomic level),
printers add black (the "K" ) to the combination to create richer, deeper hues.
• Remember, if you're printing ANYTHING and want it to look good, you're using CMYK. (Unless you're using spot color, but
that's another Design 101 lesson altogether).
