February 21st, 2008... A day that will live in infamy. That's when Steam artist Steve McCain makes his national television debut as a contestant on "Who Wants to be a Millionaire"! Drama, comedy, tears and trivia... it's all here, folks.
So, for those of you with Brighthouse cable service, mark your calendars and set your DVRs to your local ABC station at 9:00am on Thursday.
If you don't have Brighthouse or live out of the area, you can find the airdate for "Millionaire" in your area by searching Zap2It. And for those lucky few who live in or near the Orlando area, Steve's having a viewing party! (If you're reading this, then guess what? You're invited!) Click here for all the details.
Gameshow history is about to be made...
In other news... Earlier this month, Steam Studios was asked to help judge the Polk County district Addy Awards. The Addys are to the advertising industry what the Oscars are to the film industry. As you know, we're involved with Ad2 Orlando, a subsidiary of the Orlando Advertising Federation for 18 to 32-year olds. Addy rules stipulate that judging must be performed by federation members outside of the county whose work is being judged (Hence, we can perform judging duties for Polk County and not Orange County).
Long story short: Polk County had its choice of over 500 members in our county alone, so we here at Steam Studios are honored and humbled to have been chosen. Representing us was Steam artist Samson Cranford, who travelled to Lakeland for the judging last weekend. Along with a handful of other judges, Samson did his part to recognize and reward creativity within our industry.
Big ups to The Imperial Polk Advertising Federation for inviting us in the first place, and treating Samson with the utmost courtesy and graciousness. The Polk County creative industry produced stellar work this year and we were thrilled to be a part of the Addy process.

We're always trying to find ways to do things faster, better, and easier. And have we got a productivity tip for you this month!
Have you ever been on a website, realized that you'd like to find something (an archived article, a specific topic, etc.) and used the site's search field only to discover that their search capability sucks? Oh, yeah. We've all been there. For instance, everytime we here at Steam Studios search for something on apple.com, we get confronted with Apple's "yes, we're looking up your search query, but it's going to take for... ev... er."-spinning-wheel-of-death. So we don't bother any more.
Instead, we go to Google and use site-specific searching. It's easy! Just type your search query in the following way:
site:thesiteiwouldliketosearch.com searchterm
So searching for pages that deal with the iphone on apple.com would look like this:
site:apple.com iphone
Google will now return only pages from apple.com and it'll do it faster, better, and easier, too!

AOL Music : music.aol.com
When AOL used to be a subscription-based internet service, it sucked. Now that it's a free-to-the-world web portal... well, it still kinda sucks. But one of the things AOL gets right is its Music channel. You can discover new artists, listen to internet radio and even preview entire albums! Now if they'd only improve AOL Mail...

RiffTrax : www.rifftrax.com
Have you ever watched a movie and thought to yourself, "Boy, this film could really use the 'Mystery Science Theater 3000' treatment"? Do you even know what "Mystery Science Theater 3000" is? If so, then you're a snarky film snob with a great sense of humor (just like us). Mike Nelson (formerly of MST3K) has launched RiffTrax and the results are just as hilarious.

10 Things : www.thedigitalbeat.com
Just when we'd realized we were sooo over Top 10 Lists comes this unique blog. Every week 10 things (not necessarily "best of" lists, either. Yay!) that you didn't know are posted. The results are funny, weird and just plain head-scratchingly cool.
